Pine Valley started out as a weekend mountain retreat for San Diegains. Today many of those weekend cabins have been turned into everyday homes, now that fast cars and a freeway have turned the drive into 40 minutes from downtown San Diego instead of a leisurely Sunday drive. The 70s and 80s brought new housing developments made specifically for everyday living. Today there are many who call Pine Valley home full time, while others such as Walmart's Waltons who visit their Luxury Cabins at their leisure.
Community highlights include PineValley Park , a gorgeous park that host many a picnic, soft ball games and a great play ground for kids. It is also home to the festivities after the parade of Pine Valley Days.
